Hi Folks,
My wife's and my 485 approved on 24th May 05 but got an Email on 06/03/05 saying that Approval notice has been mailed out on 06/02/05. My wifes approval notice says USCIS sends another Biometrics notice in 60 days. Is it possible to get the passport stamped ( Need to Travel ) without Biometrics notice. I had Infopass appointment for June 10th. Please share your experiences if you are in same boat.

I-140 - ND 09/02/03; RFE 02/26/04; AD 04/19/04
I-485 - ND 09/02/03; FP - 05/17/04; RFE - 03/28/05 (Photos, Secondary Evidence for Birth Certificate, Employer Letter )
RFE response Received by USCIS - 05/18/05.

My case was approved on May 23, 05. The notice was similar to yours. Yesterday, I got my passport stamped. This stamp can be used for travel.
They will take your AP, I-94 and EAD cards (if any) and will stamp the passport without any problem.

My self and my wife's cases were approved on may 16th. Yesterday we got our passports stamped. It is a very simple process. Just take your approval notice and go for the Infopass appoitment. We took our EAD, AP with us. The examiner did not ask for any of those. He took the passport, removed the I-94 and stamped with I-551. This was done at columbus, OH local office,.

Can you please tell what was the text on your approval letter?
Mine was approved 2 weeks earlier, but said nothing about biometrics.
 
I am also in the same boat. Got mine and my wife's I485 approved but it stated to wait for Biometrics Notices. Can I go and get my passport stamped before biometrics notices?

We got the same approval notice. However, we got an infopass appointment and got our passports stamped.

Can some one please explain me what is BIOMETRICS???????
1. Is this something related to FP?
2. Do every one have to undergo w/ BIOMETRICS hassle?
3. If such things can be avoided, How to avoid it?

We did ours at Columbus, OH office. I took a letter from my company that I have to travel for my work. They just looked at it. Did not use it at all. What was so funny was that my wife got her stamped first with out any intentions of travel and no other supporting docs (eg travel iteanary). Then I got mine stamped too. I beleive each office is different.
 
Our 485 were approved on May 16th 2005. received the approval notice by mail on May 19th. Got the passports stamped June 2nd for 3 months. June 07th received emails that Biometrics notices are mailed. Today we received the biometrics notices by mail for code 2 for me June 27th and for my wife (dependent) june 24th.
Hope this will help people who are waiting after approval for biometrics notice.
 
We got the biometrics appointments (I-797C, Code 2) by mail last Friday 06/13. They were issued on 06/06. The appointment dates are 06/28 for my wife and 06/29 for me. My lawyer also received something similar. I guess she got the I-797 forms. I haven't received any e-mail notification. Our I-495 were approved on 04/21/2005 and we got our passport stamps on 05/06. Slowly, slowly we are creeping to the end of this stupid bureaucratic journey.
 
Does ASC stamp passports too..

I got a letter for biometrics and to appear in ASC.

Does ASC stamp passports too after biometrics or we need separate infopass appointment for passport stamping.

Your input is highly appreciated.

Do you get an email when they mail you the biometrics notice or does it just show up in your mailbox?
 
dvngpt, to answer your question - they no longer do passport stamping unless it's a TRUE emergency. Now you just wait for your biometrics, do them and you get a card a few weeks later. Which is definitely better than waiting 8-12 months like before this new system.
 
I am in same boat. I got my I485 approval notice on May 26th, which states to wait for biometric notice. I work in detroit so I just went to local office to inquire about PP Stamping. They told me that they don't do PP Stamping.

I guess I will have to wait till further notice. Is there trend on how long is it taking to get biometric processing notice after I485 approval?
 
Biometrics prior to approval, anybody?

Hi all,

Has anybody received and done Biometrics (Code 2) prior to their I-485
approval? I have a friend of mine who has gone through this and I wonder
if his case may have been approved without him or his lawyer knowing
about it. It seemed strange to me to get Biometrics Notice before approval.
His case is EB-1, RD May 2002.
Anybody had the same experience?

same happened to me. Eb1-OR (Aug 2004). I-140 and 485 haven't been aproved yet but I did biometrics code 2 yesterday. LUD change twice already since then.
Very weird indeed.
