biometrics...then what?

Hi,

I'd like to attend a four-year college this spring. Is there any way that I can become eligible for federal aid while my citizenship is pending? Right now, my family is waiting for a second biometrics, then interviews...and that's as far as I know. I don't even know how long the physical wait is for an actual green card--in a few words, it's quite agonizing. I'd like to be in college like everyone else my age and it's frustrating that my parents won't tell me anything about what is going on with our situation.

My mom tells me to just wait, BUT I CANT. I need to know, given the information above, what my chances are of being eligible for federal aid in light of my situation (that is, residency pending--am I even close to having this completed?!), and if not, then how long is the wait for the card? I'd like to be at a four year college by spring semester, which is in three months.

Help?

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You can be eligible for federal aid if you are

Hi,

I attended school too and applied for federal aid. What is the application pending? I used to be an asylee and then I became a greencard holder. How did you acquire your greencard? If you already established a green card status then you should have no problem applying for Financial Aid. But if you just moved to the country and still haven't been approved for a greencard. I think you need to wait until you are approved. Do you have an alien number already?

Thanks,
Yanal

If you are having a green card then you should be eligible to get federal aid. I can understand your parents situation. Only to some extent your parents can answer your question . Rest depends on USCIS (immigration services) you never know and we cannot predict exactly when your parents will get citizenship. As your mother said " JUST WAIT" correctly.

You should be eligible for federal aid. I do not know the procedure how to go about it. U can talk to your school administration where you want to take admission
