USICS is collecting Biometrics for Employment Authorizations and soon travel documents when biometrics will be mandatory for U.S passports(end of 2006). I know asylees dont need EAD's but anyone who would like it should know this important piece of information below:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
As the USCIS implements increasing security measures including new systems and measures for the collection of biometric data, we learn more about important tips for maneuvering through these systems. Most recently, we have just received information confirming that the fingerprints and/or biometric data collected from an individual will ONLY be applied to the applications for which the individual provides an original receipt notice at the time of biometric data collection.
For example, if an applicant for adjustment of status appears for collection of the data for his I-765 Employment authorization application but only provides the I-765 receipt, then the Service will NOT cross-reference the data for use in relation to his I-485 when approved for purposes of issuance of his alien registration card. If, on the other hand, the applicant provided both his I-765 receipt notice and his I-485 receipt notice, then the fingerprints and/or biometric data should be applied to both applications thereby eliminating a need to re-appear for purposes of the I-485 and collection in relation to issuance of the alien registration card.
It is therefore important to bring the original receipt notice for every active application on file with the Service when appearing for collection of fingerprints and/or biometric data. Copies will not suffice since the system requires the scanning of information from the original notice.
