Biometrics done, now what?

I got my EB2/NIW approved in May after 2 years, and in July both me and my husband filed the I-485s. We recently had to go to the local USCIS office to have our biometrics done: fingerprints, photo and signature. Anybody knows what happens now? They just told us to wait for the next mailing. I read around the forums but I am confused because some people talk about interviews, some talk about name checks, etc. Should I expect to receive the GCs soon or is there another step? And is it possible they are denied after getting to this step or does this pretty much mean we are almost done with the process? Thank you all.

Well ..You just did biometric code 2
Yes depending on cases they will call people for interview at local INS
Name check is done by FBI once they give name check report then USCIS will approve your case......
expecting GC soon is wishful thought!!!All teh best!

oops, step backwards

Thanks for your good wishes EB1doc. I am freaking out now because yesterday I got an email message saying a notice had been mailed to me on 5/2 requesting more evidence or information. I haven't received anything in the mail yet (of course) and I have no clue what they might need now. Does this happen often? I thought I just had to sit and wait now... By the way, what is retrogressed countries? And does the FBI check everybody or just people from some countries? I have double citizenship from a Southamerican country and Italy. I'd just like to know what they need soon!
