Biometrics appointment follow up

Hello:

I wonder if somebody can help me. I am in the process of renewing my GC. I am also starting a new job which requires significant travel to China. My company agreed that if I get the biometric appointment and I am traveling I would be able to return immediately. I am however concerned about receiving the biometrics appointment and not being at home to see it on time while traveling since I live alone. Three questions:

1 – If I file the application on line, will I be able to see the biometric appointment date in the internet while I am traveling? Is there anyway of following up on the appointment date so I do not miss it?
2 - If I file through a lawyer, will he receive the biometrics appointment notice as well?
3 – What happens if I miss the appointment because I am outside of the country?

Thanks a lot

Even notified by Email, you still will need the official letter they send you for your biometric appointment.

"2 - If I file through a lawyer, will he receive the biometrics appointment notice as well?"

Yes he can. On I-90 application, you have option of writing your lawyer's address instead of yours.

"3 – What happens if I miss the appointment because I am outside of the country?"

Then your application will be considered abandoned by INS.

Thanks a lot for the email. On your response:

"Even notified by Email, you still will need the official letter they send you for your biometric appointment"

My question then is:

can I find out when the appointment will be on the internet or by calling a customer service phone #?

My concern is being able to follow up somehow while traveling on when the appointment is so I can orginize my trip back to the US with enough time.

I am not sure about the 800 customer service number. You can call them and find out.

But for email/internet notification, the link below said that you can get update for your application via email by creating an account.

https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

I did create an account, but did not receive any notification via email for my biometric appointment. All correspondence were thru US mail. And recently I can't even log on to my account since it said that my ID is invalid. So I be little hesitant depending on internet/email for important date and notifications.

Good luck.
