biometric takes how long?

Does anyone know how long it takes to do the biometrics? I just got an appointment in the mail today at 10. I need to request time off from work and want to make sure how long it takes so that I can communicate to my work. Also, I live 45 minutes away from that biometrics place, what time should I be there?

in my case: I got there at the appointment time and still had to wait for 1 hour. Then biometric took 30 mins.

Do expect to wait, even if you get there before or exactly at the appointment time. People who work there told me that "you may show up anytime on that date; as long as you show up, the time doesn't matter". That's what they told me, it's up to you though.
