Biometric Appoinment recd

Today I recd the Biometric appointment letter. My question is what this all about, is this the same as finger printing?
I have done my FP more then one year back thats why I recd this?
Recently I applied for the third EAD, does it required for this?
Is this a good news or just a routine thing don't know, but atleast application is still going on.

In order for the USCIS to issue a GC to you, they have capture your Biometrics (FPs, digital Photo and signature). A lot of people who have done only FPs are getting Biometric notices. This is good because the USCIS will have this information on record and once your 485 is approved they will issue the GC immediately. For those that have not done Biometrics they will receive a Biometrics notice after approval which they will have to complete before the USCIS mails out the physical GC. So getting a Bio notice is a good thing. However, if your PD is not current then there will not be any approval.
