Biomatric on Efile vs. Paperbased file.

Is it true ?

Is it true that you don't need to go for finger printing if you are in paper based filing ?
 
How do you know that

EAD,
How can you say that Paper based EAD doesn't require finger printing. have you ever filed paper based ?
 
My local office told me today that I need to do biometrics for paper based EAD and scheduled me for Jan 18 th.
 
Let me clarify this since I just did this research.

Different categories have different requirement as regard to EAD, like Employment-based, family-based, and asylum-based. I believe most of us on this thread is EB-based.

1. If you e-file, all the categories need to have fingerprint.
2. If you are from family-based and asylum-based, you are required to have FP no matter what way you file (paper-based or e-file).
3. If you are from Employment-based, (a.) if you have e-file, you need PF, (b.) if you are paper-based, you DO NOT need FP.
 
EAD Renewal and Biometric ..

I just called in the customer service and was informed that irrespective of whether I do e-file or mail it in, I would need finger printing. (I was told that I don't need to send in the biometric fees). I just have to pay the application fees.

Could someone who recently renewed confirm? Please help.
