I Had been trying to reach an IIO all day today. Finally got through at around 3:00pm. The woman told me that my case was approved on June 11th 2001. I asked how come the AVM didn\'t get updated, she said it has been "acting up" lately. I asked about my wife\'s case and she told me that that has been approved as well.

Will post more once I get the approval letter.

Number of calls to the IIO=2 (06/06/2001 and 06/14/2001)
AVM checking=every day(not very useful these days)

Now, there is one thing that INS *MUST* do, if they have any decency -- make the whole process as electronic as possible. So much time, money and mental energy will be saved if they do that. Yes, I know, paper documents are the only way to be sure of anything. But at least that way we can get case status infomation over the web. Know what RFEs are getting issued and full details of why. But that is the front end - custmer service - side. On the back end, the systems that the INS processors use, the same thing must happen.

Some advice to anyone coming down the same path.
- Don\'t start GC with a bad employer! I would\'ve gone literally insane had I started my GC with Mastech (my old employer). I see all these Rapidigm/IGate employees suffering and feel sorry for them.
- Keep good tabs on your lawyer to find what\'s going on, in case there are any snags.
- Don\'t make any long-term commitments (like mortgage, or big stock investments) before GC

All the best to all of you, and thank you.

biltgashishta ,

You seem to just go out of senses by telling mastech as a bad employer.

As far as the legal system at mastech goes. They do everything properly and at time. They delayed applications I-140 because the INS gave confusing indications. You cant blame mastech for INS screw ups.

The INS could well be on track to get the award as the worst managed enterprise in america.

I have worked for Mastech in the past for 1 year. I didn\'t have to deal with the Legal Dept, but I did have to deal with the recruiters and the so called personnel managers. I remember how unethical and unprofessional they were. And I think the ill-treatment was sanctioned right from the top.

Anyway, I do remember the company communication letter that told me that I can enter this wonder lottery contest to win one of five PCs that the company was giving away. And guess what I had to do to enter the contest? Bill over 60 hours to my client. That was the day I decided I had leave. I\'m not going to spend 4-5 years (the typical time in getting a green card) with a company that is so cheap.

But if you think Mastech/Rapidigm/IGage is a good company .. fine. If it works for you .. I won\'t argue.

My current employer treats me with dignity and respect. Gives me bonuses and raises every year. Sends me to trainings. And is always concerned that if I\'m not given interesting work, I might leave. Sometimes I wonder if they even knew that I was an indentured servant.
