Dear All,

My case number is 2008AF00054XXX. Do I have a realistic chance of getting the second letter? When would I be due for interview (estimate)?. I've filled and submitted the first forms.
 
Hello. As you suspect, your case number is very high and it is unlikely that you will receive a second letter. If the number progression differs from previous years, you might get a letter for an interview for September but historically, your chances are not good. Of course, you should not lose hope, because every number has a chance, even if very small. Check the visa bulletins to see how the numbers are increasing and you will have a better idea of your prospects.

It depends on the country you are from. If you are from countries listed separately in the Visa Bulletin (e.g. Egypt, Ethiopia, Nigeria), then sorry but there is practically no chance. If you are from another country, there is a slight chance based on the progress of the visas next year. Hopefully you chose CP as you are definitely out of luck with AOS unless a miracle happens.

This year, August has all categories listed CURRENT for Africa. That means ALL applicants (regardless of a number) who won DV2007 in Africa except for those from Egypt, Ethiopia and Nigeria should get a chance for a CP interview either in August or September. It is likely that they sent more NLs for DV2008 so that this won't happen again, though.

I think somebody here posted that they have a 2008AF00069XXX number, so yours is quite far from the highest one, even though it still is very high.
