BCIS Taking Information When I called

I called BCIS toll free number today to check on status of my FP appointment (I hv not received one my ND 10/02)

Incidentally we also changed address and I informed thro my attorney and also AR-11.

The lady took all the following information from me:

1. My address
2. Day time phone numbers
3. email addresses
4. Date of Birth
5. Citizen
5. Alien # (I dont hv any)

SHe even asked the same info for my wife's case too.....I gave her the info

Is this normal now...has anyone faced this ???

I called national service center today and the lady there also took my personal info. I am filing EB1-OR and it is pending since March, 6, 2002. I was told I will be noticed by mail from VSC regarding my status. Will it help?
 
It seems that they can't check the status but will send inquery to VSC. I will receive a notice from VSC once they checked my status.
