basic question about LUD

I saw many people quote their LUD (I guess it is Last Update Date) in this forum. Where to find the LUD info. for the case? From USCIS case status website? At what stage you will see LUD (140, or 485)?
For my 140, the online information never changed since it was filed. Even now after it was denied for a month, the online case status still the same. Saying like "we received it on..., mail out receipt on..., it will take blabla days to process this case".
Please get me educated on LUD. Thanks.
 
You cannot see LUD if you just check online the status.
You should sign up to an account (as customer I guess) on the INS website
https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp
go to login and register. Then you can introduce your cases and create a portfolio and set up e-mail so when the message will change they will e-mail you.
You will see there also LUD as a date. If LUD will change but message will be same - they will NOT send you e-mail, so you have to check online your portfolio (not just case status check online) to find out.

I just submit my appeal and got the receipt days ago. Also, at the same time get things aligned for a new EA filing. I will post the appeal result when it comes.

Kee me updated... with appeal (as to my lawyer) they process it first in INS and may then change their decision (about one month), and normally they do not change, then they forward it to AAO where it stays 6-12 months...as in my case. But theoretically could be even within one months approved, this happens sometimes...
