Bank Letter for visitor visa

Hi,

I am on H1 visa and planning to call my Mother In Law on visitor visa. I see on immihelp website that I have to submit a letter in duplicate from my bank alongwith bank statements.

Is it really necessary to submit a letter from my bank? wont only two months bank statement will work? The consulate website asks only bank statements and no letter form the bank.

Please let me know.

Bank Letter

You need to submit a formal Bank Letter. The Bank knows the format if you tell them it is for INS. Basically it states the date the account was opened, and the average balance from past 3 months in Checking and Savings Account.

The bank letter is not asked by Consulate directly, rather
it is part of the I-134 Supporting documents.

See the Instructions on the I-134 for that reads hereunder.

II. Supporting Evidence.
The sponsor must submit, in duplicate, evidence of income
and resources, as appropriate.

A . Statement from an officer of the bank or other
financial institution in which you have deposits giving the
following details regarding your account:

1. date account opened
2. total amount deposited for the past year
3. present balance
