Baltimore Family Based Petitions Timeline

Guys and Gals,

I was wondering if anybody could tell me what the timeline for an application in Baltimore is. I applied this April in Atl but am moving there on a project for 2 years. I have the option of either coming back every week or getting an appt there and just staying there. Was wondering if it would be better for me to do a change of address from Atl to Baltimore or just go ahead and apply fresh. Also since it has been 7 months in Atl is it feasible to apply there or just wait for the process to complete from here. As of yet I have not received a request for FP or anything else since my EAD. Any Info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

QCO

Baltimore is ultra fast and if you succeed in moving the file there, it will be the best. If you search this forum for ex for threads by Kitaorang, you will see that that Baltimore is approving 485 in just 6 months flat...

Thanks for the info. I guess my main question is what is the timeline for the case transfer from Atl to Baltimore. I dont know if it is worthwhile reapplyin in Baltimore from scratch or transfer the case. I have heard horror stories of the case transfer taking upto 6 months. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

QCO

Actually that a better idea. If you dont mind wasting 500-600$, go ahead and apply fresh in Baltimore. People who applied in June 2003 are having interviews for I-485 in Nov 2003.

Guys,

I saw the timeline. The scary part is getting the files moved there. I spoke to a lawyer named David Englehart in Baltimore and he told me it is no use trying to apply again in Baltimore since they will not process the case till all the documents from the old cases are presented to them. In which case his recommendation was to just go ahead and get the cse transfered. But also being from a SR country he said I have to be careful of the AR-11 and the SR 865 forms. The comsequnces of things getting screwed up are tremendous. So am just scared about what to do. Has anybody done this before who can offer me some words of wisdom or support.

Thanks,

QCO

Well guys and gals I took the plunge and moved or have requested for my files to be moved to Baltimore today. Does anybody know how long it takes for the move also since I applied in April will my case be assigned with the submission date or with the new move date. Thanks for everybodys support.

Good Luck to all,

I live in MD. I applied for my parents GC on Oct.27, 2003 to Vermont center. They transfered my parents case to Baltimore INS. I got the tranfer notice for my Mom's I485 and I-130. I also got my Dad's I485 TN but not I-130 TN. I checked my Dad's I-130 status, it is still in Vermont. I called Vermont, the lady said I should file this case to local INS office. But I went to local Baltimore office before I filed my parents application. The local office said I should file to Vermont then Vermont will transfer the case.

I got very confused and don't know what to do next? Any one has similar case?

Does anyone know if after the transfer they set the dates according to the transfer date or the submission dates in Baltimore. Also I understand Baltimore is ultra fast for I485 but what about for Marriage based petitions.

Thanks,

Does anyone know how long it take after the request for transfer to receive anything from VSC. Also are cases from VSC(Family Based) being forwarded to MSC. My lawyer sent the request last week to transfer the case but I am just concerned how long before I hear from them or should I go and check at Baltimore next week and see if the case has been transfered there.

Thanks,

Does anyone know how long it take after the request for transfer to receive anything from VSC. Do I even get anything from VSC. How can I check that the transfer took place smoothly?

Thanks,

QCO

Guys and Gals,

What is the best way to check if the transfer has taken place. I did an address change in Nov and I have not since heard or received anything. Should I goto to the local office or can I check over the phone.

Thanks,

Guys and Gals,

Wondering if you can help me with this. I recently moved to Baltimore but Initially gave my sisters address there since am not sure for how long I am going to keep my current appt which i subleased from a friend. Now my question is

1. Can I keep my sisters address since that is a house and more reliable in terms of mail

2. Is there going to be a problem when i go for Interview since the address on my Lic and other Bills etc does not match but is in the same city abt 12 miles apart.

Mine is a family based petition so dont think there should be much question abt employment or am I mistaken.

Best regards,

QCO

Of course there will be a problem. They asked for your address, not your sister's address. You have intentionally supplied incorrect information to the USCIS.

If you live with your sister, have the license and everything else reflect your sister's address. If you do not live with your sister, you must keep USCIS updated of your present address.

Jim,

I gave them that address because that is the best way for me to be contacted. Also my DL and all mail goes to that address since that is where I initially moved. I went and spoke to the local INS office and they told me that they need an address by which I can be contacted. As for the AR-11 is concerned again it needs to be an address by which you can be contacted.I explained my situation to them and they said it is better to have one address than having to do multiple change of address.

Thanks,

QCO
