I talked to HR person with the company (big one) I work for. She atended a meeting (real one) last Friday regarding immigration. They told that their estimates are from 2-3 years to adjustificate employment based i485 right now (from what I heard I guess it is very optimistic). The time will be devoted to other application types. They fixed the problem with EAD. The next is going to be H1s which currently take 8 months, then APs, then family based i485 (there are big delays and they have much more appealing problems), citizenship applications etc. Employment based i485 are at the very bottom. The main reason is budget allocated for BCIS though I struggle hard to understand where $1.5B go BCIS recieve in fees every year. Nevertheless the fact is they are not doing and are not going to do anything with employment based i485s any soon. And the last "sunset" excuse is just one in the long line of others.
If we want our GC the only solution would be to push for premium process for i485 (like H1). Talk to your attorneys and employers. Words get around. I am going to write my cenator whoever he/she is.
