I went to the Canadian embassy this morning to apply for a visa—just wasted $65 and two hours of my time! Because of my nationality, I had to fill out a long form, ask some ridiculous questions, and listen to this annoying old lady. Finally, she gives me a long list of crap that I need to provide her with and tells me that I will take 10 business, while there is no guarantee that a visa will be issued. I got very made and told her to withdraw my application. I have a very good and well paid job, I'm getting my green card soon, so why the hell would I wanna stay in Canada!? It really sucks to be an asylee from country with bad publicity!

I'm too from one of the "famous seven" countries. I had to go through the same experience two years ago and got a multiple visa. I used that visa to go to Canada at least 8 times and guess what!! the idea of staying there never even crossed my mind
I re-applied for multiple visa last year and guess what again!!! They told me I have to wait for 10 business days
- reason being they need to do another "security" check cause the old one was more than 12 month old
Good luck, don't get so mad because of such things. You will raise your blood pressure and will not survive until you get your GC

Thanks, I will go there IF I get my green card! I guess mostly people from some of the muslim countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Libya, etc, and maybe a couple of non-muslim countries, have to go through lots of sh*t to get visas--it's even harder to get visas to some third world countries with RTD, specially if you're from one of those countries!

I am from one of the seven countries I applied for a Visa in September, since then I went through 3 phone interviews, and I had to send them a reply to a bunch of questions, this is after i submitted my Asylum approval letter, letter of employment, pay stub and a bank statement, despite all that all I was told by the stupid Canadians was your application is being processed, finally last week I told them to send my back my RTD to enable me to apply for a visa to UK and also asked them why would I leave the US especially for the fact that I have a good job here that even if I get it in Canada I won't get paid the same amount, the lame reply I got was that there is nothing they could do since they are just following policy. I have been travelling to europe without a hassle for the last 3 years, and never had a problem getting a Visa, infact to the UK I apply online and then mail all my doc to them, a few days later I get it back without even a question
Madasylee, I got sick of the visa officer's stupid questions, I was really offended by the th crappy forms that I had to fill out, I had to answer more questions at the embassy than I did during my asylum interview! It wasn't worthed my time and that's why I withdrew my application on the spot! Why the hell would anyone go from the US to live in Canada, especially if someone has a great job here!
