Backlog increased again!

November issue of the INS's newsletter says that the backlog grew by .5%. I have no clue how they're gonna adjust over 1 million cases in just 10 months. Texas hasn't been able to adjust the 22,000 asylee cases in almost 3 months. With 2000 and 2001 cases still pending, I don't know how in the world they're gonna adjust everyone???

All smoke and mirrors. its more like 10 percent increase in backlog...Its a pipe dream that the application processing will bein 6 months..thats just BS..It takes them 6 months just to open your freaking application.

I've already posted this question once, and still is not clear:
with the 10,000 asylum cap removal, are they now obligated to eliminate the backlog within certain period of time, or they do it on their own paste?

Another words how do they do it? Do they now treat 2005 ND differently, trying to expedite the processing, on a mean time eliminating earlier ND's, or they add 2005 ND's to the whole big mess?

A friend of mine is on H1, and he's waiting for his gc for a long long time. He recently received a letter from ins stating the following: they admitted that they are severely backloged with H1 cases, and they grouped all applications into 3 groups:
1.New applications (they try to process them fast)
2.Old applications with expedited processings (cost about $2,000)
3.Old applications
Personally I don't think it will work, but at least it sounds like some kind of plan on INS's part to get rid of the backlog.

What I'm trying to understand, is there anything like that with regards to asylum based I485's?
Thanks.

These are the processing dates on the USCIS website:

Adjustment of Status for Asylees

By law, only 10,000 asylees can adjust status to Lawful Permanent Resident per year; however, the Service is receiving between 25,405– 43,881 applications per year. As a result, as of January 10, 2005, approximately 186,170 asylee adjustment applications were pending. We anticipate that we will process pending applications according to the following schedule:
