I feel bad to hear about your case Joe. 4 years - that's just ridiculous. Check out the first 2 sticky threads on this board - I'm sure there are people who'd be able to recommend a good attorney in NJ. Have you had your interview? If so, then you can immediately file a WOM.
The only thing I can think of that would take 4 years is if they found a match on your name check and now need to do a manual search of files. Also, I have heard in quite a few places that if they find something interesting in your background, they contact your country of origin through the consulate and that could take forever. Again, do a search here - I know this has been brought up a couple of times. If your background is pristine and you have nothing to hide, then you should go all out and use the court system.
