background check

On a recent infopass appointment regarding my pending background check (since May. 2005) the officer told me that in one system that is not updated regularly my name check is pending while in another system there has been an update last week and they've 'accepted my last FingerPrint' (done in June 2006).. my file is on the shelf and there is something happening. She told me that she cannot tell me more or didnt say anything specific about the background check..
She advised me not to contact Senator for namecheck as it might delay the process..

What do I make of this?? What is this 2 computer systems thing?

Many thanks..

Well, this is very similar to my recent experience.
Four days ago TSC officer told me that I will be OK soon without going into details about namecheck.
But today officer at the Infopass appointment told me that my namecheck is still pending.
Don't know whom to believe, because somebody is wrong here.

The officer said that 'one computer system is not regularly updated and is still showing a pending background check'...
and 'the other computer system has shown activity'..

That perplexes me a little bit. Seems like there are multiple databases these officer review and it might be that your background check has been cleared but not visible on a database that is not updated on a regular basis. My name check has been pending for a long time and I am ready to send letter to Senator but now I am confused as if I do send a letter, just an initiated inquiry can potentially delay the process if my name check has already been cleared.

Not sure how to deal with this..
