Back in Business?

I believe the forum's server was down for the weekend? and part of monday?

Everything seems back to normal now. A little slow, but normal.

Anyone else had trouble connecting?

Yes, couldn't connect either, was all looking forward to post for the first time on "my" brand new, 2 gig memory, super quiet, dual core Dell precision workstation. (which I got at work because my previous computer was the oldest one in the whole company!)

Take that Mr. iPhone! :p

Anyone else went Harry Potter shoppin' at midnite Saturday? If not, you're not ready yet to become a real American. :p

MacBook Pro 17" Matte Display, 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, Santa Rosa Chipset, 4GB RAM, 160 GB 7200 rpm HDD. Beta testing Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and Windows Vista Ultimate (when I absolutely need to).

You were saying?

Lol. I am glad you got a newer machine :)

Praetorian, I guess I neglected to mention my "other" now three year old workhorse with dual Xeon 2.8 GHz, 4 gig dual channel RAM, Raid-0 array of four 15,000 rpm SCSI drives, custom aluminum chassis, 20" Dell Ultrasharp display, first Gen Sony multiformat DVD-writer, running WinXP with 4GT RAM tuning enabled.

Here's what I have at home ... and it's not even mine, it's my wife's. :D

Lol. I like where this is going :)

Anyways, did they give you Windows Vista Basic with it or what?

ps: did you check the "american" video?

I did look at the "american" video, pretty hilarious, scary if it's true. I'm sure many of them were gettn' Potter too, but my smart-American wife (who told me about the whole Potter thing 20 minutes before midnight) knew where to avoid the crowds ... we went to Walmart and to a local grocery store instead of a bookstore. They even had copies but we were not really interested, just hanging out. The truly smart folks probably posted the book for sale on ebay before they had it in their hands.

WinXP Pro for my new Dell, per our request. I think Dell is licensed to sell XP until Jan 08, I hope they will extend this to "forever". :D (Actually, I wish they'd have Win2K support still but XP is the lesser evil than Vista!)

My wife's machine at home is running Win98. First edition. Very rare now! Not even the simplest software or peripherals will now work with it!

I was at Black Friday at 5 am for the last 8 years in a row. Well prepared last year through leaked advance postings on the internet. You were saying? ... :D
