Hi All,
A parent, daughter entered US on 10 year multiple entry B2 visa for tourist purposes, and they recieved I-94 stamp for 90 days.
While is US they showed their Daughter at a major hospital
specialising in treatement of "major/rare" genetic disorder.
There are few effective treatment options in India for the same,
and the hospital is willing to write a letter to INS in support of
parent and childs visa exension; and even perform the surgery
for "no charge".
- Can the parent/daughter extend this visa ? If so, for how long?
- Can they file (a) B2 extension (b) Convert to H1 simultaneously?
- Due to "associated" medical risks of any complicated surgery
and need to pay potentially hughe bills; This parent would like to petition for work authorization in US while daughter is undergoing surgeries and revovering over several month process.
* What type of work authorization can be requested?
* Is there something the hospital/doctor can write (a very
prominant hospital); which would allow parent to work so
that they can be in financial position to cover medical expenses
of rare disorder, which is best treated in US. Family has no
US medical insurance, they have just the visitors insurance.
Appreciate any guidance on this subject. (rajiv please..)
Any past experiences will also help.
