B1 visa administrative processing taking long time

Hi guys,
I had appeared for a B1 bsiness visa interview at the New Delhi Visa Consulate on 13th of June 2005. I was denied visa and given a 221(g) which stated that my application has to undergo administrative processing. The officer told me to fill a detailed form and told me to post my resume to "matiscables@state.gov" which I did on the same day.
On 7th July 2005 I got a call from the consulate asking for a letter detailing the purpose of my visit which I have sent on the same day. I have to visit one of the subsidiaries of my company for some official work for 2 - 3 weeks.
Now its 19th of July, i.e. 1month and 6 days since my frist interview. Everytime I call the consulate they tell that the application is under administrative processing.
The company's work is getting held and the visa is required urgently.
Did anyone has similar experience. Can anyone tell me how much time these people take to provide the visa.
Is there any way to know about the status of my application.

I remember one person had the similiar experience, and that took almost a year and then after that person withdraw the application as that took longer time to process.

I dont know that even your case can take that long but... thats what happen to someone...

I got the visa. In my case it has taken long but not taken sooooooooooo........ long.

How did they contact you ? Mail or Phone ?

They didn't contact me at all, they just sent my passport to me with visa stamp

how long you had to wait for visa to be issued? and why you think they gave you 221g at the first place? please reply as am also victim of 221g. I had my interview in london for h1b (work permit) on 28th sept 2004, since that day my application is under administrative process....

Hi anil,
Actually I am workng for a Pharma company and I am a scientist by profession. They suspect everyone who is from a scientific/technical field. Thats why I got 221g. I got is early because I followed up with them regularly personally as well as through my company as I have to go to US for an official work.
In your case there must be something missing in your documents and information you have given. You have to follow up with them and u will come to know whats the way out.
