B1 to H1 stamping question (URGENT HELP)

I have a rather unique situation and I desperately need help.
I had a visitor visa for the US, and later I applied for an extension and I was accepted. Now, a day before my visitor visa expired I applied for an H1B visa and was accepted. I have the I-797 and stuff, and I just need to stamp the visa on my passport. I have the visa acceptance from the INS and I am working. I want to stamp the visa, but I just dont want to loose the job by not being able to come back. I dont mind waiting another year and get some vacation time, and then going to my home country and get it stamped from there if necessary.

Here are my questions:

1) Can I go to Canada and stamp the visa there? Will I face any issues, due to my visa history? If my visa gets rejected can I come back to the US becuase of my I-797 and then go to my home country to try there.
2) Do I have to stamp my visa immediately or can I wait and just go to my home country after a year and stamp it from there? Will there be any issues then.

Any advice or thoughts will be greatly appreciated. If any one has faced a similar situation, or knows of anyone who has, then thoughts on how to handle the situation will also be very helpful.

Thank you guys in advance.

You can stamp get the new H1 visa stamped when you visit your home country. YOu do not need a stamp to stay in US. However you will need the visa stamp if you have to travel and return to US.
