B1/B2 Visa fees changing. What fees to pay ?

Hi All,

The consulate has put out a press release on Feb 3rd and will be changing the exchange rate effective Feb 14th to 1 USD = 44 INR. This means that the fees for visas will also change.

Question: I have booked an appointment today (Feb 5th) at the Mumbai Consulate for March 23rd. What DD should I be sending ? The interim confirmation says Rs 4600 and Rs 2300 ...not the new fees. The site says that:

Please note that only bank drafts for the exact amount required on the day an application is submitted may be accepted.

So what is considered the application date ? Feb 5th in my case or whenever consulate receives my application forms etc ?

Please let me know if anyone has experience with this so far. Replies will be greatly appreciated :)
