i persume your friend doesnt want to leave the country and come back ?.
B2>F1>H1B is the only way i know check the forums for others. Marriage is always a big one.
PS : this can result in you staying here 10-20 years and not returning to your home (dying family member ,marriages etc) as changing to H1B or GC while entering on a visitor visa is a NO NO ....and re-entering the country will be tricky. no wonder you see thousands of people who have never seen home for the last 10-20 years ( some by choice some just bad luck)
Best thing would be to ask your employer to file H-1B (in premium if necessary) with 'visa to be issued abroad'. Travel back to your home country, get the H-1B stamp and start working with the new company.
I know people who have changed thier status from B1/B2 to H1B....without travelling outside of the US.
Its always a risk...but if you are on b1/b2 for more than 6 months, it may not be an issue.
Its just my suggestion....Please consult an attorney for the best options..
