Hi All
My mother-in-law recently came to the US. The Consulate in India stamped a 3 month visa with an annotation saying "Grant 60 days entry to visit daughter in Newport Beach" when she applied for a visa back in India.

When she came here the immigration officer stamped a stay period of 6 months on her I-94.

Now can she stay for the whole period without any issues or does she need to go back within the expiry period of the Visa?

I did not sponsor her for the visa. My in-laws got the Visa stamped on their own financial statements. I only sent an invitation letter.

Thanks

well the stamp is for entry, what that meant that ur mom-in-law could enter only between the dates mentioned on the visa.

The I-94 determines how long you can stay in USA, till expiry of I-94.

what this means is that suppose she had enterd on the last week of expiry of visa even then she could have been granted stay of 6 mths and could have stayed that long
