B-1 to J-1 to H-1B

I am currently on B1 status and got a job offer from a company in New York City. They will put me on a 90-day training period before they can sponsor my visa, due to a restriction on NASD rules, which requieres new hires to undergo such a training period.

Due to the cap, the company has told me that they will take all the necessary steps for me to switch from my current status to J-1 (I will be a paid trainee) and, once the training is over, to H-1B.

My B1 status expires in April 10th and I have not filed for any extensions, altough I am considering it. However, due to the little time we have, any decision must be made promptly.

I previously held F-1 status when I studied for my MBA and left the cuntry once I finished it. I had tought that, after submitting the documents for application, you can stay legally in the US.

Please advise.... I feel somewhat desperate about this issue.

+++++++++++++++++++The J-1 must not have the 2 years Home Residency requirement. think about the conversion from B. usually, not a good idea.
