B-1/B-2 Visa. Does an Ebay Business Qualify?

Hi from Australia!


I am an Australian Citizen and was born in Australia. I want to travel to the United States and reside in the U.S for a maximum period of 12-months operating my EBay business sourcing, selling and exporting "American Made" products exclusively to Australian EBay customers.

I am wondering if my proposal would qualify for a B-1 Visa?

If anyone has had any experience with the B-1/2 Visa using EBay, exporting from the US - PLEASE post.

I would appreciate any advice, suggestions-thanks.

A B1 is not for operating a business in the US.

I am not sure what visa I should apply for and I would appreciate any suggestions how I can legally travel around the United States for a period of 1 year (max), sourcing products and reselling them through ebay to fellow Aussies based in Australia.

I want to truly experience the American way of life and have fun selling on ebay, as you have some great products in the States. I enjoy selling on ebay and would just love the experience of ebaying across the United States, though it must totally legal.


I am a qualified tradesman (auto mechanic) only and don't have a degree and ebaying is my best option to have a working holiday in the United States.

I wonder how much $$$ (minimum) is considered to be a substantial amount of money?

My understanding is that it is in the order of $100K. I have seen that amount mentioned at least for the E2, Treaty Investor. I am not sure if it also applies for E1.
