awaiting Assignment to an officer

I made an inquiry over phone for my pedning I485 at NSC on 10-10-2006. I got a reply today through mail that it is awaiting Assignment to an officer. My pd is current and my name check was cleared on Sep 21.

what is your PD? Is it EB2 or EB3? Please post ur case details.
Btw, how did you find out that your name check is cleared.

Mine has been pending for more than six months and current, I d n't see any action at all.

thanks for your reply. without revealing your name can you please comment about how common your name is in your opinion. I have a very common name and I am stuck in name check with my I1485 pending since 9/05 which is also my PD

My first name and last name are very common in SI.

How did you know that the name check was cleared on Sep 21?

I am in similar situation but no confirmation that name check was cleared. The USCIS person said that the status has changed from "pending background check" to "pending adjudication".

Please reply.

When you spoke on the phone on 16th Oct., did they tell "waiting to be assigned to an officer" ? To me they replied, "pending adjudication" - do you think both the things mean the same?

Also from name check clearance to receiving the magic e-mails from USCIS - how many days passed?

Yes, they did tell me that they would place a status inquiry. THen later I recieved an email with this message, "waiting to be assigned to an officer".
I dont know whether both of them are same. You can palce another status inquiry or call them again. You may get a different answer.
My Name check cleared on Sep 21 2006(Senator office informed me over phone)
Got the magic eamils on 10-28-2006.
