Hi Successful Aussie Aliens,

I have looked, but can't find this info in reference to the Australian experience. What was the cost of the medicals - Sydney in particular, and were any vaccinations required?

Also, did anyone get their police check via the Federal Police, and how did you do the fingerprints?

Thankyou,
and
Good Luck as Permanent Aliens!

I had my medical done in Sydney, several vaccinations were required but I cant remember which ones off the top of my head sorry. If you have records of having them previously take them in with you. From memory the medical cost in the mid $300's, the chest x-ray was around $60 and the blood test $30 or so.

As for the fingerprints I had mine done by the South Australian Police. They used the ink-less machine down in the holding cells. They were posted to me about a week after I had them done

Thankyou Reggin_au for the reply,

Wow that's expensive - but worth it I'm sure. Best to know about those jabs in advance so they can be done at the usual doctor and be covered by medicare. I suspect they were booster shots.

Thanks again.

my medical was $440

Although, cheaper for kids, if you have children, cause they don't need x-rays.

I should also note that Australian police criminal records are national records. Hence, it probably does not matter which police force (State or Fed) you get them from.

I checked with the consulate which ones they require and their answer was that they accept both AFP police check and State police check - your choice which one you want to do. Only requirement was that it should be based on name and fingerprints (not only on name). Cost for State police check in QLD was $160 back in 2010.
