Folks,

not sure if some has already shared this info. from Attorney Murthy's Chat log (02/03/03).

Chat User : Could you please tell me if California INS has resumed I-485 processing? How is the speed of EAD renewal processing in this center? Thanks a lot for your wonderful service!

Attorney Murthy : Apparently, all of the INS service centers are now backlogged with TPS cases which have a deadline in early March 2003. So, don't expect many approvals in any category since the backlogs will increase in all petitions or applications filed at all the INS service centers. CSC and VSC have already announced that they expect delays. We have gotten I-485 approvals from Vermont and Nebraska, but not Texas or California. The last few days have brought in several more approvals of family groups.

Thx.

Do you think 485 approval would start pouring in once TPS Cases are over( by approx 03/09/03) ?

I dont think so.

First there was security clearnace, now the TPS cases. Something else will arise after that is done. Thank you TSC/CSC

Sad but true! Some shit or the other keeps getting used as an excuse to not start approving 485 cases. TPS is one of the worst decisions ever. Humanitarian they call it, why the heck don't they look into the humanitarian aspect of clearing our 485's after making us wait years, inspite of paying such high taxes and contributing in such huge ways to the social security and national budget?

I am sure after TPS they will start some XYZ to keep us down. Bunch of freaking idiots!

it looks csc ins is working on something

my h1 extension and my wifes' h4 extension were approved on feb 3. we filed them in june, 2002. so it took them about 7 months. it doesn't really matter to me because we both have EAD cards and i'm currently using my ead to work.

at least they are working on something and it tells how big is the backlog at csc.

Jaymehra,
Dont hold your breath. Immigration-law.com reported yesterday that US will accept 12000 Somali "Bantu" refugees this spring. These people will fall under the TPS category and surely will take preference over I-485 applicants

After 3 years of following INS; I don't think approvals have ever "poured in". they certainly won't now, with security, economy, etc.

I agree with Kenny, the backlogs are huge, but INS will keep finding some excuse or the other to keep delaying us.

If clearing the backlog of I-765 for El Salvadorian TPS by 3/9/03 is very important,
the INS could do that during the freeze due to FBI security check problem,
or nobody at INS had noticed it and found it just after halt lifted ?
Too stupid the INS is !!

JIT dates of I-765 for El Salvador TPS

JIT_____ Processing
01/15/03 09/09/02
01/01/03 09/09/02
12/01/03 08/13/02
11/15/02 08/07/02
11/05/02 08/01/02
10/15/02 07/27/02

I wonder if the INS can complete it by 03/09/03 even though their resource shifted ...
What do you think the processing date is at the next JIT report ?

Good observation kashmir. Come March 9th, they will just extend that deadline, add somali's to that list, and keep screwing us over and over again. Anyway, I faxed INS suggesting the expiring FP. The reply said "We are processing 10-18-01 so shutup."

what the f**k is CSC is doing. FAt ass ugly ,m.f**k**

y cannot they get their act together.

JIT say 11-16 and INS reply by 10-18.

No wonder this magnificent country is going south lately.

I think INS needs to employ lots of H1 workers to cleanup H1 backlog. Lots of TPS workers to cleanup TPS backlog. Lots of AOS pending workers to cleanup AOS backlog.

Shouldn't be a concept of "self-service/self-processing" in INS?

NEW JIT as of 02/01/03 - EAD for TPS is CURRENT

Hi,

At least some improvement. I hope and pray that this JIT is Correct!!!

New JIT report (as of 02/01/03 from immigration-law.com) reflects that:

765 cases are CURRENT for TPS guys.

So hopefully they will start work on 485 based EADs (before anything comes up)!!

taskforce work for only 15,000 I-765 cases !?

According to http://www.lewslaw.com/US_Immigration_Updates.htm
the backlog of I-765 for El Salvador TPS as of 1/29/03 was only 15,000.
According to the INS' monthly statistics report,
the whole INS had been processing about 140,000 I-765 cases per month,
so 15,000 was too small to shift another resource,
however, the stupid INS did use TPS cases as an excuse of I-485 delay.
Anyway, it's current right now.
The next excuse may be I-129 for H-1B ?
