Attorney Change during last hanging stage 485

Hi Everybody,

Has anyone ever changed their attorney after filing 485 ?

Here is why I am asking:

1) I am with a very well known lawyer
Impact: Thus Quite Busy & Dollar expensive

2) My employer have moved all the cases from their
office
Impact: Attorney office does not respond well as they
dont have much business

My HR asked me that I could change the attorney to their new one - so that they can have a good handle on following up with
the enquiries.

I am scared to do such change but at the same time do not know if my current attorney will do sincere follow ups for me.

Please let me know if you have or your thought on the same.

Thanks.

I had to change my attorney as I had a layoff from my sponsoring employer. Your present attorney can withdraw by sending a form (i don't remember the form No) and your new attorney can file GR-28 form with the BCIS. Since your employer is taking care all the expenses associated with the attorney you need not worry. Who knows before u change ur attorney u might get ur aproval.

New attorney can file G-28, so BCIS will contact only your new attorney and they won't contact your old attorney. I don't see any problem to change the attorney at this stage.

Thanks for the info. Even I am thinking to change my attorney as "I think he is not favorable to me.... " _ may be it is my feeling but ... I am looking into changing my attorney.

No problem. Your new lawyer will take care of the transfer.
It is very important to have confidence in your lawyer in such an important issue. If you do not, change.

Thanks to All!

It felt quite good and re-assuring after reading all of your
replies.

Also my company no longer sponsors financially any of the 485 expenses. Infact I was on my own since I-140. The current
attorney is asking me to pay consulting fees $200 per hour basis for every question related to 485-followup and yet seems to do nothing for me.

So I guess Attorney change will be a way to go and also knowing that some of you have done it in past.

Thanks Again to All !

PS: I wish I had gone the CP way - had my Attorney not changed my mind then. I think it is a good way for them to mint money from unfortunates like me! I think I will advise anyone in future to stick to CP to get out of this misery quicker!
