Its a kind of relief that INS is working somewhat.

BTW do you guys think getting laid off before 180 days and being out of pay roll for 2 and half months could be a valid reason for INS to deny my case? Though now I have a job with a very small company with 2-3 people working in it.

This question can only be answered/realized when an RFE is issued. The outcome greatly depends on how the officer is going to consider or deal with your particular case.

Only if you open your mouth and let INS know :-) While dealing with INS the golden rule is 'Don't ask, don't tell.' Or as some would say, 'Why stir a hornet's nest?' I'm sure there are many folks who have either lost their jobs or changed employers within 180 days; and there might be a few who have not yet found another job. Don't worry, these things happen and that's the reason why people apply for 485. It's a more forgiving path, as opposed to CP (Consular Processing) which is ruthless. As long as you have a job currently and can produce documentation, you're fine. Take it easy and enjoy the ride!!

Thanks mavishka and GC012002

I really appreciate the response!!! This site is really good for thought sharing.

Perfect advice mavishka.

I have changed jobs after 180 days, and have not informed INS about it. As you say, why stir a hornet's nest.

Concentrate on your present job and find a better one if you feel insecure. My opinion, you should be fine.

Of course I am not INS nor an attorney :) :)
