My mother who is not a US citizen got into some legal problems when she was younger (drug possession ect) she was convicted but never served anytime. Well mature and responsible and a upstading person for the last 20 odd years she has decided to go for her citizenship and has been denied because she did not include in her application that she was in deportation status from 1993 she was not aware of this. She recieved no notice what so ever. She was comming back from a trip to Jamaica and was held for 3 hours and questioned she was let go because she didn't have anything on her (she was on vacation) but her green card was withheld. Now it will cost $7000 to
continue with an apeal.
What can she do on her own to apply for her citizenship?
I've heard that you can write to some gov official and ask for a pardon in her cases that have already been judged on and then maybe she can get citizendship. What is your thoughts?
