Status:
On H1B visa.Green Card process is underway.The first stage--"labor" has been approved.Company attorney now preparing to file for I-140.
--The labor(recruitment etc) was done from Memphis,TN.But for a short term,i have moved to New Jersey on an internal project.
--This is not re-location.Human Resources (HR) is not involved.My expenses are being reimbursed within the project budget.
--My payroll is still run from Memphis,TN and i am maintaining an address there(Memphis) as well.
The temporary move to NJ was initially for 6months.My H1B was amended likewise.But now, my manager is wondering if i can stay a little longer(maybe another year).
My questions are two fold:
--At what stage do i have to be physically present in Memphis,TN?Since,my I-140 is being filed,will it be a problem if i am in NJ?
--Will the H1B amendment(from Memphis to NJ) cause an issue later?Should i have it amended back to Memphis?
Your inputs to any of my questions is appreciated.
