Asylum interview during COVID

Hi everyone,

I have scheduled an interview soon. As a family member I placed my son in form I-589, he is 2 years old and is U.S born.
Does he need to be at the interview if he is already is U.S. Citizen?
I'm asking because by the USCIS rules he should wear a mask at all time, but he doesn't want to (he doesn't talk yet and is hard to explain that is required)

If somebody had interview during COVID, how strict it was with mask rule?
Thanks

Child is not mandatory for interview I think. But mask is required all the time.
BTW, May i know are you submit your I-589 recently or a years ago?

I submitted in December 2018, I had scheduled interview on 18 March 2020, but was canceled because of covid and rescheduled now in February 2021..
