Hi,

Greetings.

Please help me clarify this. I was born in India and was affected by polio at the age of 2. Since then both my legs have lost strength and I wear leg braces on both my legs and walk with a crutch.

Infrastructure and living conditions in India offer huge challenges (near to impossible conditions) to disabled people like me.

For the past 5 years I have been working and living in USA. I cannot return and be able to lead a normal life in India.

Can I seek asylum to continue to live in USA ? Please let me know.

Thank you,
Babu.

Not for the reasons you described. If you can prove that you have been subject to persecution because of your disability, perhaps. But it will be a _VERY_ long shot.

You will also have to explain why you did not apply within 1 year of getting here (what changed in India in those years?)

Read this: http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/services/asylum/index.htm and Google for other information.
