You are absolutely eligable for financial aid. Just feel out FAFSA form. Almost guranteed that you will get Pell grant and Stanford loan + local state grants.
As an asylee you are an "elegible non-citizen" for financial aid. You have the same benefits as a US Citizen would have (FinAid stuffs).
STEPs:
1. Find the school(s) you would like to go.
2. Fill out the FAFSA on the web http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
3. The Dep. of educ. will determinate how much money you are elegible for.
If you qualify...the maximum aid it's usually about $4025 per year if you are a full time student and you keep a 2.5+ GPA.
