Asylum 2016

Hi,
I applied for Asylum on April, 2016. I got my EAD card after six months. However, I haven’t had my first interview yet and I have no idea how long I have to wait. I checked USCIS for case status and it is still saying “ next step is an interview”. Is anyone know what’s going on with the 2016 asylum cases. I know it is way backlogged and 2018 afterwords getting most priorities.

Same story. Application was filled in November 2016. Still waiting for interview. BTW, when I renewed my ead I didn't pass finger print. So it was only once so far, in the beginning.

You'll have to be very patient. USCIS occasionally interviews those who applied before 2018. However, even among the backlogged applicants, those who applied earlier have priority. So, someone who applied in 2017 will be interviewed before you. 2016-5 are the worse.

I applied on 5th of July, 2016. Renewed my EAD in 2019. And still waiting. No changes other than renewing my EAD. Also, I really do not know when I am going to be interviewed. Hopefully, we will get an update soon. Also, upon checking the UCSIS website, the last update was when my EAD card was mailed to me. Also, I will be interviewed in Newark, NJ
