Asylee's Retirement Benefits

Does anyone know if the time that a person works while on asylum status counts toward retirement benefits in the social security administration? In other words, a regular person needs to work at least 10 years to get retirement benefits, what happens if you're an asylee and, let say, 5 of those 10 years were while on asylum status.

Thanks

This is a simple thing and by now you should know this. To SS it does not make a diffrence, who you are as far as you are paying taxes, and you have a SS # , SS keep record of all your earnings. Every year do they mail you a letter stating how many credits you have earned so far? and how many more you need to qualify. Total are 40 credits and every year you earn 4 for making approxmately $3500 or so. Even if you move they automatically sent the letter to your new address, how? from your new employer & W4.
