Hi everyone,

Does anyone know whether asylees can study abroad without having complications upon return to the States? I am not returning to my home country to do this. If so, does anyone have info you think could be relevant?

Thank you!

I do not see any problems. You will have to get a visa from the country you are going, I assume? Hopefully this will not be one of those that do not take RDTs.

What is a RTD?

Hi, thanks for the reply! Could you tell me what is a RTD? Also, does anyone have first hand experience on this question so they can share their experience?

Thanks,

First, get some manners. After that mind your own business if you don't have anything nice to say. Didn't your mom tell you that? Pathetic. I already go to school here dumb*ss I just want to learn a third language...again...go read a book on manners or something, or just take a chill pill. God.

RTD is a refugee travel document

its valid only for one year, you can file application i 131 to nebraska service center, it takes 3 to 4 month to get it,

i had RTD 6 times in the last 6 years,i could use it all over the world,

i usually travel a lot

Chill out and stay civilized!

Cleveland, will you chill out? It's a very common and accepted fact that the best way of learning a foreign language is to take a 3-6 months language course in a country with that local language. More than 50% of students in US schools/colleges have done a "summer language course" overseas at least once in their life.

Another thing is that being an asylee, it might involve some additional risks and I would think twice before doing it (especially for a longer period of time).

However, if you simply "do not get the idea" - that does not give you a right to post things like that. If you can't be helpful, then just remain silent, I am sure many forum members would appreciate that!

I absolutely agree with Lusiks. There's nothing wrong with asylee going overseas to learn another language. This is the best way to get to know another culture and to learn the language from the natives as opposed to learning it in the classroom. It may also help SOME PEOPLE to be less ethnocentric. Although the U.S. is a great country, it is not the only country and different experiences would not hurt anyone.

Hey Cleveland redneck, go back to your farm to work with your hands while you get a nice tan on your neck. This forum is for civilized people to communicate, get ideas, relief frustration from the USCIS. So please mind your own business, do not come to this forum with such bold statements.
