Hi, Please I need help! I have posted this same question on several threads, and I apologize, but I need a response!

I came into the States Aug- 2005. Applied for Asylum Aug- 2006, a few days before I clocked one year. Hearing with Asylum officer didn't go well in Sept. and I had to meet an Immigration Judge in Feb. 2007. My Asylum was granted and I also got an NL for the DV-2008, on the same day in March!
Now, I went to the USCIS in my area and asked a lady about my case. She started off being friendly and told me I could come in October, then she got on the phone and spoke to her "Supervisor". After mixing up my dates, ( she said I came in 2001 not 2005), she told me that i am not eligible!! She asked if i filed an extention on my visitor's visa and i told her i didn't need to because i was filing for asylum, which i did in record time.( less than 1 year). She tells me not to waste my money applying because i will be denied!!! Then she suggests i just wait for AOS when the time comes, on my asylum claim.
I asked for her to point me to a link, that says i am not eligible, but she says i should go and check law books!!!
Please, am I eligible for AOS, with the DV-2008 lottery? The period that I stayed (6months) before I filed for my asylum, which still fell into the less than 1 year period for filing asylum, does that constitute being out of status? I read you have to be in status while filing for an AOS.
Please, i need someone's response, please!!!!

My 2 cents. Do not even bother with the DV-2008. AOS wait time for asyless has improved in recent years and you will be able to get your Green Card in no time. Do not further complicate your situation. If you do want to go ahead with the DV route consult an attorney about the possible repercussions- if there are any...;)

G luck..
