arrest for domestic violance

Got my GC in May 2000. During a domestic dispute in Nov same year my wife called 911. The cops arrested me and I was charged with misdemeanor. After about 2 months the case was dropped from the DA. Any input how this may affect my naturalization process (I’ll be eligible for US citizenship in May of 2005).

When asked if you were ever arrest/detained etc , please answer yes. Be very careful about what you put in here or say to the interviewer.

3 strategies

1. Get a letter from the DA's office stating that the case was dropped due to .... reasons
2. If you are still living with your wife, take ther to the interview !! (wow!!!!!!!)
3. Get legal advice, you dont wana screw this up

strongly recommend getting good counsel that can obtain expungement based on dismissal. at that point it should be a non-issue for ins re n-400 ... this doesn't sound at all serious like the things they fixate on but will no doubt be a red flag for them so dismissal + expungement will suffice ... your wife's presence is not necessary - they may not even let her in for interview.
