Are the last 8 digits of my Case Number the same as my DV lottery rank number for the visa bulletin?

Hi there,

I am monitoring the Visa Bulletin every month and I was wondering what my DV regional lottery rank number is if my Case Number is 2011AF0003XXXX. Is the specified allocation number that I need to be looking for equivalent to the last eight digits of my case number or is this a different number?

Your case number is, year of entry, two letter region code, rank number. So, for your case to be current, you need the visa bulletin to say for Africa, a number higher than the last 8 digits of your case number. Look back through last years bulletins on the dept of state web site to get an idea of when you may be current.
 
Ok thanks very much, I already have my police clearance but looks as though I may only be current in April 2011, do you know if the police clearance expires as it is dated 30.09.10.
