Are the copies of reference letters accepted?

Hi everybody,
I am wondering if anybody can tell me whether it is essential to have original refernce letters or the copies are accepted too. Some of my references brought up the possibility to send me a PDF version of their letter instead of mailing it to me. What is your experience in this matter?

Yes ! it is accepted
INS don't want original.
however, when requested originals (which generally they don't wrt letters) shd be provided.

Yes! My lawyer submitted Photocopies (I still have the originals). I-140 approved today (May 19, 2006). Good Luck to you.
