Are Personal checks ok and what is the current amount ?

I wrote one personal check for US$400.00 for my N400 application. I do not think it matters whether you write one or two checks.

1-3 days here and there shouldn't matter much. As for the personal
checks, if your financial institution posts the scanned copy of the check, you
will infact be able to see you case number written on the deposited check
(which is probably not possible in Money order I presume)
 
I looked at the scanned copy and saw my 13-digit receipt # but the online case status says it's not recognized. The check was cashed 4 days ago.

Also, the 4'th character (after LIN) is a $ sign. Is that correct?

They don't write WSC there

Look for a 7 digit number on your scanned check on the top center of the cheque
which is handwritten (let's say it is 1111111"

Now prepend WSC*00 to it to look like "WSC*001111111" and use that to get
your case status
