Are pay-stubs enough? or exp letter is necessary?

I am going to leave a company where I worked four months and go back to my old employer. If this current company where I worked four months does not give me an experience letter, will pay-stubs be sufficient to prove that I worked there? Or the Consulates always look for experience letters? Please advise.
