Hi, I am thinking of sponsoring my parents. What kind of medical coverage they are entitled for, when they come to the US as GC holder? Is there an age restriction? Shall they get medicare or I have to buy medical insurance for them separately? What is the eligibility of medicare? Would appreciate if someone, can guide me to the right set of documents. TIA.

You'll be needing to buy insurance. Medicare eligibility requires a person be eligible for social security benefits, which doesn't happen unless you've had sufficient social security payroll deductions.

To qualify for Medicare you need to be over 65, and have worked 40 qualifying quarters (i.e. 10 years) on which you paid taxes and your employer submitted Medicare payments.

Otherwise you can look in to Medicaid, or buying your own private insurance

www.ehealthinsurance.com is a good place to start for health care coverage.
