Are cell phones allowed?

I have my FP appointment next week. In the I-797C form it says that Cellphones, cameras or other recording devices are not allowed. How much do they enforce it?
Will it be possible for me to bring my laptop at the immigration office? I have to go directly to work after my appointment.

I had my phone with me but, I turned it off before even entering the building, and the officer at the door asked me if it was off. So they do check but if it is off is ok. Laptops I have no clue but should be the same, as long as it is off. Just my 2 cents.

When I went for my interview I left my phone in the car. Other people in line were asked if they had cell phones or other electronic equipment with video or camera capability. They all had to take them back to their cars. Maybe different in different offices.
