Are 1st time Processing(AP/EAD) Slower ?

I think 1st EAD and AP takes much longer these days. In the past this maight not been the case I am not sure..
I applied for EAD and AP for myself and my daughter on 30th Oct 2003. I got RFE for copy of passport and driver's licence a month ago which I sent off in 2 days, and still haven't heard back. My daughter got an RFE for pages of passport last week although we both applied together in Oct 2003.
Processing dates for EAd and AP according to USCIS are March and Feb 2004 which I think refers to renewals.
Worth starting a tracking thread for 'FIRST TIME' EAD and AP only!!
